ITC Testing Lab Metals Testing Laboratory neutral salt spray (fog) testing is based on ASTM B117 Specification. The test principle is to provide a contrrosive nvironment which has been utilized to provide relative corrosion resistance information for specimens of metals and coated metals exposed in a given test chamber.
Corrosion is destructive chemical or electrochemical reaction of materials with its environment, resulting surface deterioration or a breakdown in properties. Salt spray test is an accelerated corrosion test that produces a corrosive attack to the specimens of metals and coated metals in order to predict its suitability in use as a protective finish.
Corrosion Testing is used primarily to determine the corrosion resistance of painted or coated metal samples. A 5% salt water solution in a pH range of 6.5 –7.2 is atomized as a fog into the heated chamber maintained at 95℉±3℉(35℃±2℃). Test time ranges from 24 to thousands of hours, usually in 24 hour increments. Our salt spray test chamber can provide exposurt to a salt intensive stmosphere at designated temperature and testing period matching the proper specification.
